Why is a tank clean so important?
Over time, sediment, sludge, and organic matter build up in the bottom of your water tank. It can make your water look, taste, and even smell bad. Even clear-looking rainwater regularly contains unhealthy bacterial contaminants such as E.coli, Giardia, and Cryptosporidium.

FAQ: How often should I clean my water tank?
Most tanks only need cleaning every 2–3 years. A pre-tank filter system can extend this to every 5+ years.
Each property is different, and cleaning frequency depends on your environment. Things like type of roof, nearby vegetation, unsealed roads (dust), building sites (sawdust), and prevailing wind direction all play a part.
FAQ: Do we drain the water to clean the tank?
No. Our eco-friendly system typically uses 20–30cm depth of water to remove sludge & debris while retaining the majority of your water. We then filter and sterilise all remaining water.
This is a smart, water-saving solution — especially in our dry NZ summers where every drop counts!
FAQ: When is the best time of year to clean a water tank?
We can clean your tank anytime!
When tanks are at least a third full, we get the best suction - due to water pressure from above. As long as we start cleaning with at least 40cm of water in the bottom of the tank - we can clean your tank!
FAQ: Do we climb into the tank to clean it?
Not usually. We avoid entering tanks to reduce the potential to introduce further contamination.
However, in the case of complex or underground storage systems, safe entry into the tank may sometimes be necessary.
FAQ: Do we sterilise the water after cleaning?
Yes — every tank clean includes FREE water sterilisation (normally $100 RRP).

FAQ: Can we help keep your tank cleaner for longer?
Absolutely! Installing a Pre-Tank Filtration System — it’s the simplest and easiest way to keep your tank cleaner for longer.
In addition, we will seal any tank penetrations, repair broken guttering and pipework, and replace damaged plastic and concrete manholes.
FAQ: What if I already cleaned my tank last year?
That’s awesome!
You might not need a clean just yet. BUT we are happy to do a FREE tank check and let you know if everything still looks good.
